Madison StBoydton, Virginia, 23917 (434)-738-0113 hbr@boydton.org http://www.boydton.org Experience a delightful little historic town, founded in 1812, where the streets are named after the heroes of the War of 1812. Boydton is the county seat of Mecklenburg County, Virginia. A Greek Revival Court House with a pedimented portico of six columns still stands majestically in the center of town. Many of Boydton’s historic buildings, such as the United Boydton Methodist Church, the 1820 Washington Tavern, the Boyd Tavern (currently bring restored), the 1908 Williams and Goode Bank Building and the 1820 Presbyterian Meeting House are all still in use. The Boydton and Petersburg Plank Road, which was used by area farmers to carry their products and tobacco to market in Petersburg, ran right through the middle of town.
