_______________ |
The
historic City of Emporia is a combination of the Town of Hicksford
settled in 1710 and the Town of Belfield established in 1798, chartered
as a City in 1967. Today, Emporia is generally considered the commercial
hub of far Southside Virginia since it is located at the crossroads of
US Route 58, Interstate 95, the CSX Railroad and the Norfolk Southern
Railroad. The historic district includes the recently renovated 1781
Greensville County Courthouse, Village View, a historic home dating from
1795 and other historic structures.
