Cost: Adults $5, Senior $4, Ages 6-17 $2 Avoca was originally the residence of Colonel Charles Lynch, the founder of Lynchburg, when he established his home Green Level, now Alta Vista. Serving in the Revolutionary War, Lynch distinguished himself as both a lawyer and a soldier. The current beautifully detailed Queen Anne residence was constructed in 1901 by the great-grand niece of Colonel Lynch, to whom the property had passed, replacing two previous homes that burned in 1879 and 1900. The home now contains a collection of artifacts and interpretation of the cultural and natural history of the region. Directions: General Location Specific Location |
