Enjoy this 400-acre lake that borders the Town of Halifax and adds the atmosphere of a resort to the quaint historic town. Best known for crappie and cat fishing. Banister lake is on the Piedmont Trail, Dan River Loop, a Virginia Birding & Wildlife Trail. A public boat landing is located by the bridge on Virginia Route 501 North.

Directions:
From the intersection of US 501 and SR 360 in Halifax, follow US 501 North 0.4 miles to just outside the town of Halifax. A boat landing is maintained on the south end of the bridge.
