Green Hill Cemetery

Established in 1863, Green Hill was the first of three connecting cemeteries laid out on the old Green estate. With pleasant winding drives, Green Hill is typical of the Romantic layout of mid-19th century municipal cemeteries. Green Hill is the final resting place of a number of Confederate veterans, and Danville's Confederate quartermaster Maj. William T. Sutherlin. "Confederate Row" as the burial plots are called, leads to Danville's Confederate Soldiers Monument, a 16-ton obelisk that stands 32 feet atop a six-foot mound.

Directions:
From Main St take Jefferson Ave south and street becomes Jefferson St. Go to Lee St and turn left.
