Pick up a brochure at the Visitors Center in Martinsville and take a one mile walk or a two mile walk through Uptown Martinsville. Both tours start at the Henry County Court House. You’ll be passing such impressive structures as Grey Lady, built by John Carter for his bride in 1896 and the Rucker Parish House originally named Oak Hall built in 1904 for the President of Liggett and Meyers Tobacco Company. The Schottland House, built by one of the founders of the Virginia Mirror Company, was donated to the community for a permanent art center. Twenty historic structures are on the tour.
