Open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. Last admission is at 4:30 p.m. The building closes at 5:00 p.m. The Museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Cost: $5 for adults; $4 for Senior Citizens (62 and older) and youth (12 to 18); $3 for children 3 to 11; children 2 and under are free. Members of the museum and individual members of the American Association of Museums are admitted at no charge for regular admissions.

Currently undergoing a $28 million renovation and scheduled to reopen in January 2007, the facility will have five times the public and exhibit space of the current facility. The Virginia Museum of Natural History is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and an agency of the Secretary of Natural Resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Until the opening of the new facility, you can enjoy permanent exhibits including an Ice Age Cafe, Triassic Treasures, Wild about Wildflowers, Life in the Sea, Age of Dinosaurs, and Gifts to our Grand Children: Preserving Virginia’s Endangered Species as well as a series of special exhibits planned for 2006.

Directions:
From south of Martinsville and the intersection of US-58 and US-220 go north approximately 4.4 miles on US-58 Business which becomes US-220 Business. Museum is on left on corner of Douglas Ave.
