The Real America: Southern Virginia on the Move |
A Watchable Wildlife Vacation in Southern
Virginia
7 Days/6 Nights
Imagine watching a deer grazing quietly.
Or coming upon a flock of birds just settling down for a rest in a
field. Imagine marveling at any number of other wild creatures that
populate the far reaches of the forest. There are so many different ways
to enjoy the outdoors in Southern Virginia and watch the still plentiful
wildlife, that we’ve designed a whole vacation filled with watchable
wildlife, fresh air and pristine countryside. While taking the trip,
you’ll be hiking the trails, plying the lakes, observing the animals and
birds, discovering a bit of history outdoors, and if you wish, boating
and cruising.
No less than five Virginia State Parks, two with outstanding history
await. Smith Mountain Lake and Buggs Island Lake have more than 1,200
miles of shoreline between them. Eight major trails are ready for
hiking in addition to all of the trails found in the State Parks. No
less than four loops of the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail track
through the region, locations that were selected because they are
considered the best wildlife and bird watching in the state.
So pack your binoculars, comfortable shoes and a sun hat. Not to worry
about what you’re wearing, we’re casual here. Shut down your computer.
Turn off your cell phone and leave a sign on your office that says
you’ve “gone fishing”... Enjoy a week away, in southern Virginia where
Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry both had their getaway retreats. The
time away will do you good! |
